What a crypto payment gateway does for your business

A crypto payment gateway connects your store or app to blockchain settlement. Shoppers see a hosted checkout or pay from a link; you receive funds in crypto at the address you configured. CXPay focuses on merchant workflows: creating payment intents, tracking status, exporting reports, and receiving webhooks when payments confirm.

Unlike custodial processors that hold balances on your behalf, CXPay never takes custody of merchant funds. Each successful payment is directed to your payout wallet. That model pairs well with businesses that already manage treasury in self-custodied wallets and want fewer intermediaries between the payer and your books.

Checkout rails, assets, and quoting

Supported networks and assets today: Ethereum (ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI); Base (ETH, USDC, DAI — USDT is not supported on Base); Arbitrum (ETH, USDC, USDT); Optimism (ETH, USDC, USDT, DAI); Polygon (MATIC, USDC, USDT, DAI); Tron (TRX, USDT TRC20); Solana (SOL, USDC, USDT); Bitcoin on-chain (BTC) and Bitcoin Lightning (BOLT11); and CXCASH (gas-free private payments via cxcash.app).

Checkout amounts are priced in USD and quoted to the payer as an exact crypto amount, rounded to a precision their wallet or exchange can actually type: two decimals for USD stablecoins and TRX, four for SOL, six for ETH and on-chain Bitcoin, and whole satoshis for Lightning. The payer must send that exact amount before the quote expires; quotes can be refreshed if they lapse. Underpaid, overpaid, and expired payments are surfaced as distinct statuses in the dashboard and via webhooks.

You can steer payers toward CXCASH for a gas-free experience on Aztec via cxcash.app and lower merchant fees on that rail. Standard checkout supports the multi-chain asset list above with network fees passed through to the payer on Ethereum and Bitcoin at cost.

Fees and merchant onboarding

CXPay charges 1% on standard checkout, 0.5% when the payer selects the CXCASH rail (private, gas-free payments on Aztec via cxcash.app), and a $0.30 minimum fee per payment. There is no setup fee, monthly fee, or application fee in the product. Ethereum and Bitcoin network fees are shown to the payer at cost on those rails.

Merchant sign-up requires an email and password (or sign in with your existing CoinExchange account), a business name, and a payout wallet address. CXPay does not collect government ID, proof of address, business phone numbers, or KYB documents for onboarding. You are responsible for understanding obligations that may apply to your business in your jurisdiction.

One CoinExchange account can sign you into CXPay alongside cxcash.app and coinexchange.cash, so operators do not juggle separate logins for wallet, exchange, and merchant tools.

Developers: API keys, idempotency, and webhooks

Integrate with scoped API keys (cxpay_live_ and cxpay_test_ prefixes) against https://api.cxpay.cash/api/v1. Create payment intents with POST /payment-intents using amountUsdCents, optional rail (standard or cxcash), optional payerAsset, and metadata. Send Idempotency-Key on POST requests to safely retry creates.

Webhooks sign payloads with cxpay-signature (timestamp and HMAC-SHA256). Events include payment.confirming, payment.paid, payment.succeeded, underpaid, overpaid, expired, failed, and cancelled. Rotate secrets from the dashboard and inspect delivery logs when debugging integrations.

  • Hosted checkout page for each payment intent
  • Payment links with fixed USD amounts
  • Invoices with REST create and retrieve
  • CSV export and payment reports

Non-custodial settlement in practice

CXPay is non-custodial: when a payer completes checkout, funds settle directly to the payout wallet address you provide at sign-up. CXPay does not operate merchant hot wallets, sweeps, or pooled balances for your sales. You remain in control of the wallet that receives each payment.

Refunds are initiated by you through the dashboard or API; blockchain payments cannot be reversed by a payer bank because there is no card chargeback path at the protocol level. Plan reconciliation around on-chain confirmations and webhook statuses rather than card-network dispute windows.

Questions about this page

Is CXPay a custodial crypto payment gateway?

No. CXPay routes settled payments to the merchant payout wallet you provide. CXPay does not hold merchant sales balances in a pooled custodial account.

Which assets can my crypto payment gateway accept?

Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Tron (USDT), Solana (SOL, USDC, USDT), Bitcoin on-chain and Lightning, and CXCASH—with the token list documented on CXPay /accept pages.

Do I need business verification to use the gateway?

CXPay merchant sign-up does not require KYC or KYB documents. You provide email, business name, and a payout wallet address (or sign in with CoinExchange).

How are small orders charged?

A $0.30 minimum fee applies per payment even when 1% would be lower—for example, a $10 order pays $0.30, not $0.10.
